Privacy Policy

Revo ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Revo product review app for Shopify and the website at userevo.app. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We believe privacy policies should be readable. So we wrote this one in plain English.

What Data We Collect

Revo collects only the data necessary to provide the review collection and display service. Here is what that includes:

Store Data (via Shopify)

When you install Revo, we receive basic information about your Shopify store through the Shopify API. This includes your store name, store URL, owner email address, locale, and currency. We also access product and order data as needed to associate reviews with the correct products and to trigger review request emails after order fulfillment.

Review Content

When a customer submits a review through Revo, we collect the review text, star rating, reviewer display name, and any photos or videos they choose to upload. This content is stored so it can be displayed on your storefront through our review widgets.

Customer Email Addresses

We receive customer email addresses from Shopify order data solely to send review request emails on your behalf. We do not use these email addresses for any other purpose, and we never send marketing emails to your customers.

Usage Analytics

We collect basic, anonymized usage data to understand how merchants interact with the Revo dashboard. This includes page views within the app, feature usage patterns, and performance metrics. We do not track individual customer behavior on your storefront beyond review widget interactions.

How We Use Your Data

We use collected data for the following purposes:

• Review collection. Sending post-purchase email requests to your customers at the timing you configure.
• Review display. Rendering review content, photos, videos, and star ratings on your storefront through our widgets.
• Discount delivery. Generating and delivering discount codes to customers who submit reviews, when you have this feature enabled.
• SEO structured data. Injecting review schema markup on your product pages to enable rich snippets in search results.
• App improvement. Analyzing aggregated usage patterns to improve Revo's features and performance.
• Support. Accessing your store and review data when you contact us for help, so we can troubleshoot issues.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties. Period.

We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Shopify. As a Shopify app, we operate within the Shopify ecosystem and exchange data with Shopify as required by their API and app requirements.
• Infrastructure providers. We use trusted third-party services for hosting, file storage (for review photos and videos), and email delivery. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by contractual obligations to protect it.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your store data and review content for as long as you have Revo installed on your Shopify store. Customer email addresses used for review requests are retained only until the review request sequence is complete, after which they are deleted from our active systems.

When you uninstall Revo, we begin a 30-day data deletion process. After 30 days, all your store data, review content, and associated customer information is permanently deleted from our systems. If you need your data exported before deletion, contact us at support@userevo.app within that window.

You can also request immediate data deletion at any time by emailing us. We will process the request within 7 business days.

Cookies and Tracking

The Revo marketing website (userevo.app) uses only essential cookies required for basic site functionality. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party tracking scripts on our marketing site.

The Revo app embedded within your Shopify admin uses session cookies to maintain your authenticated state. Our storefront review widgets do not set any cookies on your customers' browsers.

Children's Privacy

Revo is a business tool designed for Shopify merchants. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@userevo.app.

Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These include:

• Access. You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification. You can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erasure. You can request that we delete your personal data.
• Portability. You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Restriction. You can ask us to limit how we process your data.
• Objection. You can object to our processing of your data in certain circumstances.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@userevo.app. We will respond within 30 days.

For end customers whose data is processed through Revo: your data is collected by the Shopify merchant who installed Revo. We act as a data processor on their behalf. For questions about how a specific store handles your review data, please contact that merchant directly.

Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. This includes encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage for sensitive data, access controls limiting who within our team can view data, and regular security reviews of our infrastructure.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a data breach that affects your information, we will notify you and any relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify installed merchants through the Revo app dashboard and update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Revo after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
